Archos AV 500 digital video recorder

The AV 500 is a very affordable, extended-duration, portable recording device that is ideal for use with Cetacean Research Technology's hydrophones. Designed as a digital video recorder, it also records CD quality sound (44.1kHz/16-bit) to a 100GB hard drive and is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. That's enough memory to record 6-1/2 days of uncompressed stereo audio, and the very efficient internal Lithium-Ion battery holds enough charge to continuously record audio files for up to 15 hours. The AV 500 can also be used as an external hard drive for data backup. If very compact video (with audio) recording is needed, an optional mini video camera with 512 x 492 resolution is available.
