Cetacean Research Technology is the distributor for the Acoustimetrics Acousonde™ 3A and the Acousonde™ 3B.
The Acousonde™ 3B is specifically designed for application as a cetacean tag. It is a self-contained underwater acoustic recorder comprised of one (or optionally, two hydrophones), sensors for attitude, orientation, depth and temperature, a digital recorder, and a field-replaceable battery.
The Acousonde™ 3B marine acoustic recording tag is a complete mechanical redesign of its cylindrical sibling, the Acousonde™ 3A.
The 3B's electronics, suction cups, and flotation form a single, low-profile, hydrodynamic package that should remain attached for longer periods and with lower flow noise than the 3A and its predecessor the Bioacoustic Probe.
When attached to an animal subject, the Acousonde™ measures the subject's sound environment and vocalization activity as well as potentially associated behavior. |
The Acousonde™ 3B flotation comes in four nice bright colors. Please specify your preference when ordering.
The Acousonde™ 3A can be used as either a marine wildlife acoustic tag or as a remotely deployed autonomous recorder.

Cetacean Research Technology has extensive experience with Acoustimetrics probes. We designed the housing and the attachment system for the bioacoustics probe (the prececessor to the Acousonde™ 3A). For more information on our involvement with the b-probe and selected other projects, and on how we can help you with your custom application, please see our consulting page.
