Hydrophone Protection Cages

Protect your hydrophone with the Cetacean Research Technology Hydrophone Protection Cage. Easily added and removed, it can also be used to reduce flow noise. Our hydrophone protection cages come in two models: one that fits longer hydrophone models and a second more compact version.

A new compact Cetacean Research Technology Hydrophone Protection Cage is now available for CR1, SQ26-H1B, SQ26-08 hydrophones, and the SQ26-H1 hydrophone system.

These rugged devices are made from super strong polyurethane, which has similar acoustic properties to both water and the encapsulation material used in our hydrophones. Unlike metal cages that can cause unwanted resonant ringing to be picked up by the hydrophones they protect, our polyurethane protection cage does not ring.

Protect your C55, C57, C75, or C305 hydrophone with the original model. It also fits all of our older C54 models.

A new cage, specifically designed for the C56 inline hydrophone, will be available soon.

Flow Noise Reduction

In addition to protecting your hydrophone, the cage can be used to reduce flow noise as water moves past the hydrophone. This is easily and economically achieved by slipping a nylon stocking over the protection cage.

Easy on, Easy off

The Cetacean Research Technology Hydrophone Protection Cage can be quickly added to your hydrophone by placing the two halves of the cage over the hydrophone cable locking sleeve and securing the halves with cable ties. Adding a protection cage is a great way to extend the life of a new hydrophone or one that you may have purchased years ago.
